1. A computer-implemented method for providing a virtual sensor network based system, comprising:
- obtaining project data descriptive of a virtual sensor network to be used in a control system of a machine;
establishing a virtual sensor network including a plurality of virtual sensors based on the project data, each virtual sensor having a model type, at least one input parameter, and at least one output parameter;
receiving model information, measurement data, and performance information for the virtual sensor network;
verifying performance of the virtual sensor network based on the performance information and measurement data;
responsive to verifying the performance of the virtual sensor network, creating one or more calibration certificates of the virtual sensor network based on the model information, the measurement data, and the performance information;
generating a documentation package associated with the virtual sensor network, wherein the documentation package includes at least an identification of the virtual sensor network, the project data, and the one or more calibration certificates of the virtual sensor network; and
publishing the virtual sensor network in compliance with a standard based on the documentation package associated with the virtual sensor network.

a storage unit storing information associated with the virtual sensor network; and a computer processor configured to; obtain project data descriptive of a virtual sensor network to be used in a control system of a machine; establish a virtual sensor network including a plurality of virtual sensors based on the project data, each virtual sensor having a model type, at least one input parameter, and at least one output parameter; obtain logged information including model information, measurement data, and performance information of the virtual sensor network including the plurality of virtual sensors; verify performance of the virtual sensor network based on the received performance information; responsive to verifying performance of the virtual sensor network, create one or more calibration certificates of the virtual sensor network based on the model information, the measurement data, and the performance information; generate a documentation package associated with the virtual sensor network, wherein the documentation package includes at least an identification of the virtual sensor network, the project data, and the one or more calibration certificates of the virtual sensor network; and publish the virtual sensor network in compliance with a standard based on the documentation package associated with the virtual sensor network. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)

23. A computer-implemented method for providing a virtual sensor network based system, comprising:

obtaining project data associated with a virtual sensor network to be used in a control system of a machine; establishing a virtual sensor network including a plurality of virtual sensors based on the project data, the virtual sensors having a model type, at least one input parameter, and at least one output parameter; deploying the virtual sensor network on a selected deployment target; operating the virtual sensor network on the deployment target to obtain performance data and measurement data for the virtual sensor network; logging the measurement data and the performance data during operation of the virtual sensor network; verifying performance of the virtual sensor network based on the logged performance data and measurement data; responsive to verifying the performance of the virtual sensor network, generating one or more calibration certificates for the virtual sensor network based on model information for the virtual sensor network, the measurement data, and the performance data; generating a documentation package for the virtual sensor network, the documentation package including at least an identification of the virtual sensor network, the project data, and the one or more calibration certificates for the virtual sensor network; and publishing the virtual sensor network in compliance with a standard by making the virtual sensor network and the documentation package associated with the virtual sensor network publicly available to users.
