Abstract

An adjustable weight-loaded dip-chin machine. Dip bars and chin bars with means for vertical adjustment are mounted on columns, which in turn are mounted on a base. An arm is pivotally attached to the base, and weights can be added to an arm spindle attached to the arm. A belt is attached to the arm, and weights added to the arm spindle resist upward motion of an exerciser performing dips or chins. Elastic bands may be added connecting the arm to the base, and/or the belt to the base, which serve to render the exercise more strenuous. Dip bars incorporate a plurality of dip bar legs, each a differing distance from the other dip bar. Chin bars incorporate a downwardly-sloping dogleg. An alternate embodiment adjustable dip-chin machine incorporates a weight stack which can be attached to the belt. Stack weights selected from the weight stack render exercise more strenuous.

Claims

1. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights, a pair of columns, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, a belt attached to said arm, and at least one elastic band connecting said belt to said base, whereby said elastic band exerts force against upward motion of said belt.

2. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base;

an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights;

a pair of columns;

a dip bar removably attached to each said column; and

means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column;

the means of adjusting dip bar height comprising a bracket attached to said dip bar, and a plurality of column apertures in said column, said bracket comprising a bracket first leg attached along one edge of a bracket spine, and a bracket second leg attached along an opposite edge of said bracket spine, said bracket first leg, bracket second leg, and bracket spine defining a bracket aperture, said bracket aperture being sized to admit said column, and a bracket pin attached to said bracket second leg, each said column aperture being sized to admit said bracket pin, whereby said bracket pin may be inserted into one said column aperture, and then said bracket rotated about said bracket pin until said column is disposed within said bracket aperture.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 2 wherein said column comprises a pair of opposed column faces and a pair of opposed column sides, said plurality of column apertures being disposed in one said column side, and said bracket further comprises a bracket second leg extension and said bracket pin is mounted to said bracket second leg extension, a bracket pin offset from said bracket spine equaling or exceeding a column aperture offset from an adjacent said column face.

An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights, a pair of columns, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, a chin bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said chin bar on its respective column, a pair of elevated foot supports attached to said base, and a pair of column braces, one end of each said column brace being attached to one said column, an opposite end of each said column brace being attached to said base, said arm being rotatably attached to at least one said column brace at an arm pivot point.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 4 wherein said arm comprises a pair of arm braces, one end of each said arm brace being rotatably attached to a respective column brace at an arm pivot point, an opposite end of said arm braces being mutually attached, and an arm ring attached to an end of said arm braces opposite said column braces.

6. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 5 wherein said base comprises at least one leg supported by a foot at each end, and one said foot support is mounted on each said leg.

7. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 6 wherein said base further comprises a horizontally disposed arm support upon which an end of said arm opposite said column braces rests.

An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights, a pair of columns, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, a belt attached to said arm, and belt weight attached to said belt.

An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights, a pair of columns, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, a pair of columns, a chin bar removably and directly attached to each said column, and means of adjusting a height of each said chin bar on its respective column.

10. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 further comprising at least one elastic band connecting said arm to said base, whereby said elastic band exerts force against upward motion of said arm.

11. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 further comprising at least one weight on said arm spindle.

12. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 further comprising a belt attached to said arm.

13. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 12 further comprising at least one elastic band connecting said belt to said base, whereby said elastic band exerts force against upward motion of said belt.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 wherein the means of adjusting chin bar height comprises a bracket attached to said chin bar, and a plurality of column apertures in said column, said bracket comprising a bracket first leg attached along one edge of a bracket spine, and a bracket second leg attached along an opposite edge of said bracket spine, said bracket first leg, bracket second leg, and bracket spine defining a bracket aperture, said bracket aperture being sized to admit said column, and a bracket pin attached to said bracket second leg, each said column aperture being sized to admit said bracket pin, whereby said bracket pin may be inserted into one said column aperture, and then said bracket rotated about said bracket pin until said column is disposed within said bracket aperture.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 14 wherein said column comprises a pair of opposed column faces and a pair of opposed column sides, said plurality of column apertures being disposed in one said column side, and said bracket further comprises a bracket second leg extension and said bracket pin is mounted to said bracket second leg extension, a bracket pin offset from said bracket spine equaling or exceeding a column aperture offset from an adjacent said column face.

16. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 wherein each said chin bar is attached to a respective said bracket by means of a chin bar support, whereby said chin bar is offset from its respective column towards an exerciser.

17. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 9 wherein each said chin bar comprises a downwardly-sloping chin bar dogleg attached to an extreme of said chin bar opposite said column.

18. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 17 wherein said chin bar dogleg is attached to said chin bar at a chin bar dogleg angle substantially between 5 degrees and 25 degrees.

19. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 17 further comprising a dip bar removably attached to each said column, and means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 19 further comprising a pair of column braces, one end of each said column brace being attached to one said column, an opposite end of each said column brace being attached to said base, said arm being rotatably attached to at least one said column brace at an arm pivot point.

21. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 20 wherein said base further comprises a horizontally disposed arm support upon which an end of said arm opposite said column braces rests.

The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 21 wherein said arm comprises a pair of arm braces, one end of each said arm brace being rotatably attached to a respective column brace at an arm pivot point, an opposite end of said arm braces being mutually attached, and an arm ring attached to the end of said arm braces opposite said column braces.

23. An adjustable din-chin machine comprising a pair of columns attached to a base;

a dip bar removably attached to each said column;

means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column; and

a weight stack attached to a belt whereby upwards motion of said belt is resisted by stack weights selected from said weight stack;

the means of adjusting dip bar height comprising a bracket attached to said dip bar, and a plurality of column apertures in said column, said bracket comprising a bracket first leg attached along one edge of a bracket spine, and a bracket second leg attached along an opposite edge of said bracket spine, said bracket first leg, bracket second leg, and bracket spine defining a bracket aperture, said bracket aperture being sized to admit said column, and a bracket pin attached to said bracket second leg, each said column aperture being sized to admit said bracket pin, whereby said bracket pin may be inserted into one said column aperture, and then said bracket rotated about said bracket pin until said column is disposed within said bracket aperture.

24. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 23 wherein said column comprises a pair of opposed column faces and a pair of opposed column sides, said plurality of column apertures being disposed in one said column side, and said bracket further comprises a bracket second leg extension and said bracket pin is mounted to said bracket second leg extension, a bracket pin offset from said bracket spine equaling or exceeding a column aperture offset from an adjacent said column face.

25. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 24 wherein each said dip bar comprises a plurality of dip bar legs, said dip bar legs being separated by mutually differing distances from the other said dip bar.

26. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 24 further comprising a chin bar removably attached to each said column, and means of adjusting a height of each said chin bar on its respective column.

27. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 26 wherein the means of adjusting chin bar height comprises a bracket attached to said chin bar, and a plurality of column apertures in said column, said bracket comprising a bracket first leg attached along one edge of a bracket spine, and a bracket second leg attached along an opposite edge of said bracket spine, said bracket first leg, bracket second leg, and bracket spine defining a bracket aperture, said bracket aperture being sized to admit said column, and a bracket pin attached to said bracket second leg, each said column aperture being sized to admit said bracket pin, whereby said bracket pin may be inserted into one said column aperture, and then said bracket rotated about said bracket pin until said column is disposed within said bracket aperture.

28. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 27 wherein said column comprises a pair of opposed column faces and a pair of opposed column sides, said plurality of column apertures being disposed in one said column side, and said bracket further comprises a bracket second leg extension and said bracket pin is mounted to said bracket second leg extension, a bracket pin offset from said bracket spine equaling or exceeding a column aperture offset from an adjacent said column face.

29. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising a pair of columns attached to a base;

a chin bar removably attached to each said column;

means of adjusting a height of each said chin bar on its respective column; and

a weight stack attached to a belt whereby upwards motion of said belt is resisted by stack weights selected from said weight stack;

the means of adjusting chin bar height comprising a bracket attached to said chin bar, and a plurality of column apertures in said column, said bracket comprising a bracket first leg attached along one edge of a bracket spine, and a bracket second leg attached along an opposite edge of said bracket spine, said bracket first leg, bracket second leg, and bracket spine defining a bracket aperture, said bracket aperture being sized to admit said column, and a bracket pin attached to said bracket second leg, each said column aperture being sized to admit said bracket pin, whereby said bracket pin may be inserted into one said column aperture, and then said bracket rotated about said bracket pin until said column is disposed within said bracket aperture.

30. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 29 wherein said column comprises a pair of opposed column faces and a pair of opposed column sides, said plurality of column apertures being disposed in one said column side, and said bracket further comprises a bracket second leg extension and said bracket pin is mounted to said bracket second leg extension, a bracket pin offset from said bracket spine equaling or exceeding a column aperture offset from an adjacent said column face.

31. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm spindle attached to said arm, said arm spindle being sized to accept weights, a pair of columns, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, an arm extension rigidly attached to an end of said arm opposite said arm'"'"'s pivotal attachment to said base, said arm comprising a plurality of arm extension apertures, and a belt line attached to a belt, an end of said belt line opposite said belt being removably attached to said arm extension at one said arm extension aperture.

32. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 31 wherein said belt line is removably attached to one said arm extension aperture with a hook attached to said belt line, an end of said hook opposite said belt line being disposed through one said arm extension aperture.

33. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising a pair of columns attached to a base, a dip bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said dip bar on its respective column, a weight stack attached to a belt whereby upwards motion of said belt is resisted by stack weights selected from said weight stack, and an arm extension rigidly attached to an end of said arm opposite said arm'"'"'s pivotal attachment to said base, said arm comprising a plurality of arm extension apertures.

34. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 33 further comprising a belt line attached to a belt, an end of said belt line opposite said belt being removably attached to said arm extension at one said arm extension aperture.

35. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 34 wherein said belt line is removably attached to one said arm extension aperture with a hook attached to said belt line, an end of said hook opposite said belt line being disposed through one said arm extension aperture.

36. An adjustable dip-chin machine comprising a pair of columns attached to a base, a chin bar removably attached to each said column, means of adjusting a height of each said chin bar on its respective column, and a weight stack attached to a belt, whereby upwards motion of said belt is resisted by stack weights selected from said weight stack, an arm pivotally attached to a base, an arm extension rigidly attached to an end of said arm opposite said arm'"'"'s pivotal attachment to said base, said arm comprising a plurality of arm extension apertures.

37. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 36 further comprising a belt line attached to a belt, an end of said belt line opposite said belt being removably attached to said arm extension at one said arm extension aperture.

38. The adjustable dip-chin machine of claim 37 wherein said belt line is removably attached to one said arm extension aperture with a hook attached to said belt line, an end of said hook opposite said belt line being disposed through one said arm extension aperture.
