1. A flow-inverting device for extracorporeal blood treatment circuits comprising:

  • a first access being designed to be brought into fluid connection with a patient-side artery branch, a second access being designed to be brought into fluid connection with a patient-side vein branch, a third access being designed to be brought into fluid connection with a unit-side artery branch, a fourth access being designed to be brought into fluid connection with a unit-side vein branch, the first access being in selective fluid communication with either the third access or with the fourth access, and the second access in selective fluid communication with either the fourth access or with the third access;

    a one-way passage means interposed between at least two of said first, second, third, or fourth accesses to enable flow in only one direction between said at least two accesses, wherein the one-way passage means includes at least one check valve;

    a single pump associated with either the first access or the second access, wherein, in a first work condition of the pump, blood is drawn from a patient'"'"'s cardiovascular system and moved towards the flow-inverting device, and wherein, in a second work condition of the pump, blood is drawn from the flow-inverting device and moved towards the patient'"'"'s cardiovascular system; and

    a blood treatment unit in fluid communication with the unit-side artery branch and the unit-side vein branch.
