1. A method for determining a state of charge of a battery comprising:
- subjecting the battery to a predetermined magnetic field such that the battery and the predetermined magnetic field jointly create a resultant magnetic field;
sensing the resultant magnetic field; and
determining the state of charge of the battery based on the resultant magnetic field,wherein the determining of the state of charge is further based on an integration of current flowing through the battery with respect to time, and the determining the state of charge of the battery comprises;
determining a magnetic portion of the state of charge based on the resultant magnetic field;
determining a current portion of the state of charge based on the integration of current; and
weighting the magnetic portion of the state of charge and the current portion of the state of charge such that, as the current flow through the battery increases, influence on the state of charge by the magnetic portion is decreased.

Abstract
Methods and systems are provided for determining a state of charge of a battery. The battery is subjected to a predetermined magnetic field such that the battery and the predetermined magnetic field jointly create a resultant magnetic field. The resultant magnetic field is sensed. The state of charge of the battery is determined based on the resultant magnetic field.
