1. A magnetic resonance imaging system in which an object to be imaged is subjected to scanning to obtain an MR image, the scanning being applied to a three-dimensional region of the object previously located on previously obtained tomographic positioning images of the object, the system comprising:

  • a displaying unit configured to display two tomographic images of the object as pre-scan positioning images, each of the two tomographic images including a target of interest thereon, the two tomographic images intersecting each other;

    an inputting unit configured to enable an operator to specify a plurality of points along the target on each of the two tomographic images;

    an approximating unit configured to calculate an approximated three-dimensional curve passing through a plurality of virtual points determined by the plurality of operator-specified points on each of the two tomographic images; and

    a locating unit configured to locate a region to be imaged by using the calculated approximated curve.
