1. A method of treatment of a blood vessel, comprising the steps of:
- providing an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen therebetween, the distal end having an elongate braided sheath expandable between a reduced diameter and an expanded diameter, the expanded diameter having a proximal sealing surface and a distal sealing surface, the elongate braided sheath further comprising a fluid tight covering;
advancing the elongate member through a guide catheter into a blood vessel that supplies blood to the heart; and
expanding the elongate braided sheath to engage the endoluminal surface of the blood vessel and the endoluminal surface of the guide catheter and stop antegrade blood flow in the blood vessel.

Abstract
An evacuation sheath assembly and method of treating occluded vessels which reduces the risk of distal embolization during vascular interventions is provided. A method of treating a blood vessel, includes providing an elongate member having proximal and distal ends, a lumen therebetween, the distal end having a braided sheath expandable between a reduced and expanded diameter, and a fluid-tight covering. The elongate member is advanced into a blood vessel that supplies blood to the heart. The braided sheath is expanded to engage the endoluminal surface of the blood vessel and stop antegrade flow.

11. An evacuation sheath, comprising:
-
an elongate catheter having a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen therebetween; an elongate braided sheath carried at the distal end of the catheter, the braided sheath having a fluid tight covering, wherein the sheath is expandable from a delivery configuration to an operational configuration having a proximal and a distal sealing surface, wherein during use the proximal sealing surface engages an endoluminal surface of the catheter and the distal sealing surface engages an endoluminal surface of a blood vessel to stop antegrade blood flow in the blood vessel; and an elongate actuation member connected to a distal region of the braided sheath, the actuation member being movable within the catheter from a distal position to a proximal position to expand the braided sheath. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
