1. A method of treating a patient with a medical condition, comprising:
- implanting a microstimulator within an opening extending completely through a skull of said patient, wherein the microstimulator resides within the opening;
routing an electrical lead or a catheter from said microstimulator through the opening to portion of motor cortex;
generating a stimulus in accordance with one or more stimulation parameters using said microstimulator; and
applying said stimulus to said portion of said motor cortex of said patient adjacent said opening via said electrical lead or said catheter, thereby treating said medical condition.
