1. A projectile that uses a non-Newtonian fluid to promote penetration of a target, the projectile comprising:

  • a. a body;

    b. a channel located in the body, wherein the channel contains the non-Newtonian fluid; and

    c. a plunger located in the channel, wherein the plunger transmits a force to the non-Newtonian fluid while in contact with the target, causing the non-Newtonian fluid to exert a pressure in the channel, and wherein the viscosity of the non-Newtonian fluid increases with at least one of the rate or time of shear while the plunger is in contact with the target, thereby promoting penetration of the target.
