1. An antenna system comprising:

  • a first antenna element;

    a second antenna element, wherein electromagnetic coupling occurs between the first antenna element and the second antenna element such that a current IExcite in the first element causes a current IDirect in the second antenna element; and

    a coupling element disposed between the first and second antenna elements and mutually coupled to the first and second antenna elements such that the coupling element causes a current ICancel, wherein ICancel at least partially cancels IDirect by at least −

    10 dB, wherein a total coupled current in the second antenna element is ICouple, wherein ICouple is equal to IDirect plus ICancel and is negligible.
