1. A fluid infusion system comprising:

  • an enteral feeding pump configured for receiving a piece of tubing of an infusion set, andan actuator formed as part of the enteral feeding pump configured for engaging one side of the piece of tubing of the infusion set without engaging an opposing side of the tubing of the infusion set, the actuator being movable to deform the tubing of the infusion set and thereby open a flow channel therethrough, the actuator comprising a pair of surfaces disposed thereon for engaging the tubing of the infusion set, the pair of surfaces being angled to one another less than 150 degrees and greater than 90 degrees; and

wherein the fluid infusion system comprises an infusion set having a piece of tubing with an occluder disposed therein, the tubing having a first section comprising the section of tubing which is engaged by the actuator, the first section being disposed on a first side of the tubing and the tubing having a second section disposed opposite the first section and being approximately the same size as the first section, and wherein the actuator is configured to form only a single flow channel past the occluder in the infusion set between the second section and the occluder by applying force to the first section of the piece of tubing of the infusion set to thereby press said first section of the piece of tubing against the occluder, and wherein the system does not apply a force to the second section of the tubing.
