1. A security system, comprising:
- a control device for wirelessly transmitting, in response to a user input via an input means of the control device, a request to operate a plurality of vehicle security systems, the request including an identification code of the control device; and
a control module for receiving the request and granting the control device permission to operate the vehicle security systems if the identification code matches an identification code of a control device that has permission to operate the vehicle security systems, wherein the identification code of the control device that has permission to operate the vehicle security systems is stored in a database, wherein the control module is separate from a vehicle, wherein when permission to operate the vehicle security systems is granted, the control module wirelessly transmits a reply to the control device, the reply including operating parameters that enable the control device to selectively control one or more of the vehicle security systems, wherein the control device selectively controls a first vehicle security system of the vehicle security systems in response to the user or another user inputting, via the input means, a tag identification of the first vehicle security system and a command to be performed by the first vehicle security system into the control device, mixing the tag identification with a base identification of the database to generate a unique identification of the first vehicle security system at the control device, and then, wirelessly transmitting, from the control device, the unique identification and the command to the first vehicle security system, wherein the command is performed if the transmitted unique identification matches a unique identification stored in the first vehicle security system.

Abstract
A method for selectively controlling a security system comprises receiving a tag identification, determining a security identification based on the tag identification, and transmitting a message comprising the security identification and a security system command. A security system having a unique security identification comprises a control device for controlling the security system, wherein the control device transmits a message to the security system comprising the unique security identification and a function command, the control device comprising keypad for entering a tag identification corresponding to the unique security identification.

8. A security system, comprising:
-
a computer including a database for storing operating parameters to be granted to control devices that have permission to operate a plurality of vehicle security systems; a control module for granting or denying the control devices permission to operate the vehicle security systems based on the permissions stored in the database, wherein the control module is separate from a vehicle; and a plurality of control devices, each control device being granted permission, based on a signal wirelessly transmitted from the control module, to selectively operate one or more of the vehicle security systems if an identification code of the control device is authenticated by the control module, wherein a first control device of the control devices selectively controls a first vehicle security system of the vehicle security systems in response to a user inputting, via an input means of the first control device, a tag identification of the first vehicle security system and a command to be performed by the first vehicle security system into the first control device, mixing the tag identification with a base identification of the database to generate a unique identification of the first vehicle security system at the first control device, and then, wirelessly transmitting, from the first control device, the unique identification and the command to the first vehicle security system, wherein the command is performed if the transmitted unique identification matches a unique identification stored in the first vehicle security system. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)

17. A system for monitoring vehicle access activities, comprising:
-
a computer for generating reports that detail usage of a plurality of control devices; a control module for assigning operating parameters to the control devices so that the control devices can selectively operate one or more of a plurality of vehicle security systems, wherein the control module assigns the operating parameters to the control devices based on information stored in a database, wherein the control module is separate from a vehicle; and a plurality of control devices, each control device being assigned the operating parameters, via a signal wirelessly transmitted from the control module, if an identification code of the control device is authenticated by the control module, wherein a first control device of the control devices selectively controls a first vehicle security system of the vehicle security systems in response to a user inputting, via an input means of the first control device, a tag identification of the first vehicle security system and a command to be performed by the first vehicle security system into the first control device, mixing the tag identification with a base identification of the database to generate a unique identification of the first vehicle security system at the first control device, and then, wirelessly transmitting, from the first control device, the unique identification and the command to the first vehicle security system, wherein the command is performed if the transmitted unique identification matches a unique identification stored in the first vehicle security system. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19, 20)
