1. An interactive system comprising:
- an article having a position-coding pattern and a plurality of different print elements printed thereon, said position-coding pattern identifying a plurality of positions on the article and an article identity, each print element corresponding to a different audio output;
an optical sensor for reading a portion of the position-coding pattern;
a processor coupled to the optical sensor for determining a position and the article identity using the read portion of the position-coding pattern;
a computer system configured for identifying an audio data file using the position and article identity determined by the processor, said computer system having a memory storing audio data files for respective audio outputs, each audio data file being indexed with a respective article identity and at least one position; and
an audio output device for playing an audio output corresponding to the identified audio data file.
