3. A method for using a lens, implanted in an animal, the lens having a modifying composition (MC) dispersed therein, the modifying composition being capable of stimulus-induced polymerization, the method comprising:

exposing a first portion of the lens to an external stimulus that causes changes in at least one optical property that changes a focal length of the first portion of the lens to a first focal length to reduce an error caused by a healing response of the animal; and exposing a second portion of the lens to an external stimulus that causes changes in said at least one optical property that change a focal length of the second portion of the lens to a second focal length that is different from the first focal length. - View Dependent Claims (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
