1. A resuscitation and alert system comprising:
- a resuscitation device comprising a defibrillator;
sensing means for determining when the resuscitation device is in use, said sensing means capable of generating a signal indicating that the resuscitation device is in use and transmitting said signal to other components of the system;
communicating means for enabling oversight and communication with remote emergency medical personnel; and
a processor, said processor capable of receiving input from the sensing means and controlling the communicating means to initiate communication with the remote emergency medical personnel whenever the input from the sensing means indicates that the device is in use;
a means for measuring the cardiac electrical activity of a patient, said means for measuring capable of generating an EKG signal corresponding to the cardiac electrical activity, said means for measuring capable of transmitting said EKG signal to other components of the system;
wherein the processor is programmed to control the communicating means to communicate the EKG signal to the remote emergency medical personnel when the means for measuring measures the cardiac electrical activity;
wherein the defibrillator is inoperable to deliver shock unless enabled by the processor;
wherein the communication means is capable of receiving an enable signal transmitted by the remote emergency medical personnel and conveying the enabled signal to the processor; and
wherein the processor is programmed to make the defibrillator operable to deliver shock when the processor receives the enable signal.

Abstract
A resuscitation device for automatic compression of victim'"'"'s chest using a compression belt which exerts force evenly over the entire thoracic cavity. The belt is constricted and relaxed through a motorized spool assembly which repeatedly tightens the belt and relaxes the belt to provide repeated and rapid chest compression. An assembly includes various resuscitation devices including chest compression devices, defibrillation devices, and airway management devices, along with communications devices and senses with initiate communications with emergency medical personnel automatically upon use of the device.
