1. A surgical device comprising:
- a body having a first interface and second interface, the first interface to receive a removable ultrasound tip and the second interface to receive an electrical signal;
a transducer to provide an ultrasound signal to the first interface in response to the electrical signal; and
a console including;
a microprocessor to execute a software program corresponding to the removable ultrasound tip from a plurality of pre-set software programs corresponding to a plurality of different types of removable ultrasound tips, the microprocessor to provide a first control signal in response to execution of the software program and a second control signal; and
a power stage to provide the electrical signal from a power source in response to the first control signal;
wherein during a mode of operation, the ultrasound signal has a first amplitude during a first period of time and the ultrasound signal has a second amplitude during a second period of time.

A surgical device (1) for bone surgery including a body (2) able to be gripped by the user and a tip (3) mounted at the head of the body and set in vibration at a modulated ultrasonic frequency to operate on bone tissue, the surgical device (1) being particularly suitable for oral surgical procedures such as bone sampling, excision of cysts, third molar extraction, preparation of alveolar sites, creation of an opening into the maxillary sinus (Caldwell Luc), elevation of the maxillary sinus by the crestal route and orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures such as osteoplasty, ostectomy and osteotomy.

a body having a first interface and second interface, the first interface to receive a removable ultrasound tip and the second interface to receive an electrical signal; a transducer to provide an ultrasound signal to the first interface in response to the electrical signal; and a console including; a microprocessor to execute a software program corresponding to the removable ultrasound tip from a plurality of pre-set software programs corresponding to a plurality of different types of removable ultrasound tips, the microprocessor to provide a first control signal in response to execution of the software program and a second control signal; and a power stage to provide the electrical signal from a power source in response to the first control signal; wherein during a mode of operation, the ultrasound signal has a first amplitude during a first period of time and the ultrasound signal has a second amplitude during a second period of time. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)

a body having a first and second interface, the first interface to receive a removable ultrasound tip and the second interface to receive an electrical sinusoidal signal and fluid; a transducer, included in the body, to provide an ultrasound signal to the first interface in response to the electrical sinusoidal signal; and a console including; a keyboard to generate a first control signal in response to a user selection; a microprocessor to execute a software program corresponding to the removable ultrasound tip from a plurality of pre-set software programs corresponding to a plurality of different types of removable ultrasound tips, the microprocessor to provide a second control signal in response to execution of the software program and the first control signal; a power stage to provide the electrical sinusoidal signal from a power source in response to the second control signal; wherein the surgical device operates in one of a first and second mode of operation in response to the second control signal, during the first mode of operation, the ultrasound signal has a first amplitude and first frequency, and during the second mode of operation, an amplitude of the ultrasound signal is modulated at a first low frequency signal. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12)

13. An ultrasonic surgical device comprising:

a substantially cylindrical handpiece having a first and second interface, the first interface to receive a removable ultrasound insert shaped to perform surgery and the second interface to receive an electrical sinusoidal signal and fluid; a transducer, included in the substantially cylindrical handpiece, to provide an ultrasound signal to the first interface in response to the electrical sinusoidal signal; and a console including; a keyboard to generate a first control signal in response to a keyboard selection; a microprocessor to execute a software program corresponding to the removable ultrasound insert from a plurality of pre-set software programs corresponding to a plurality of different types of removable ultrasound inserts, the microprocessor to provide a second control signal in response to execution of the software program and a first control signal; a power stage to provide the electrical sinusoidal signal from a power source in response to the second control signal; and a pump controller to control the amount of fluid provided to the second interface in response to a third control signal provided by the microprocessor; wherein the surgical device operates in one of a first and second mode of operation in response to the second control signal, during the first mode of operation, the ultrasound signal has a first frequency and first amplitude, and during the second mode of operation, an amplitude of the ultrasound signal is modulated at a low frequency signal. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
