Abstract

An information management system for operation over a network includes a first mobile device having a first application module, the first mobile device operating over the network and in communication with a second mobile device having a second application module, a first operating system residing on the first mobile device configured to detect a communication event between the first mobile device and the second mobile device, and an address book module residing on the second mobile device. The first application module is configured to send information associated with the first mobile device to the second mobile device in association with a detection of the communication event.

Claims

1. A device comprising:

a processor configured to be in communication with first and second mobile communication devices over a wireless network;

a first memory in communication with the processor and storing computer readable instructions configured to cause the processor to;

receive an incoming SMS message from the first mobile communication device;

determine whether the incoming SMS message includes contact information relating to a user of the first mobile communication device;

in response to determining that the incoming SMS message includes contact information, cause the second mobile communication device to prompt a user to store at least a portion of the contact information included in the SMS message;

determine whether a second memory accessible by the second mobile communication device already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device; and

store at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message in the second memory.

The device of claim 1 wherein determining whether the second memory already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device includes causing the second mobile communication device to determine whether the second memory already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device.

3. The device of claim 1 wherein storing at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message includes causing the second mobile communication device to store the contact information.

4. The device of claim 1 wherein the first and second memories are the same.

5. The device of claim 1 wherein the memory further includes instructions configured to cause the processor to cause the second mobile communication device prompt the user of the second mobile communication device to update the existing contact information in the second memory using the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message.

6. The device of claim 1 wherein the memory further includes instructions configured to cause the processor to detect a call identifier of the first mobile communication device to determine whether a calling number included in the contact information in the SMS is a mobile device call identifier.

7. The device of claim 1 wherein the second memory is remote from the second mobile communication device.

8. The device of claim 1 wherein the second memory is a phonebook.

9. The device of claim 1 wherein the memory further includes instructions configured to cause the processor to store at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message in memories associated with a plurality of mobile communication devices.

10. A method for use with a processor that is configured to communicate with first and second mobile communication devices over a wireless network, the method comprising:

receiving an incoming SMS message from the first mobile communication device;

determining whether the incoming SMS message includes contact information relating to a user of the first mobile communication device;

in response to determining that the incoming SMS message includes contact information, causing the second mobile communication device to prompt a user to store at least a portion of the contact information included in the SMS message;

determining whether a second memory accessible by the second mobile communication device already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device; and

storing at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message in the second memory.

The method of claim 10 wherein determining whether the second memory already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device includes causing the second mobile communication device to determine whether the second memory already has existing contact information relating to the user of the first mobile communication device.

12. The method of claim 10 wherein storing at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message includes causing the second mobile communication device to store the contact information.

13. The method of claim 10 further comprising causing the second mobile communication device prompt the user of the second mobile communication device to update the existing contact information in the second memory using the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message.

14. The method of claim 10 further comprising detecting a call identifier of the first mobile communication device to determine whether a calling number included in the contact information in the SMS is a mobile device call identifier.

15. The method of claim 10 wherein the second memory is a phonebook.

16. The method of claim 10 wherein storing at least a portion of the contact information contained in the incoming SMS message includes storing the contact information in a plurality of mobile communication devices.
