1. A method for providing a quality of service driven channel access within a basic service set in a wireless network, comprising:

  • determining a transmission opportunity that is available during a contention free period of a superframe for transmitting traffic in the basic service set, where a time duration of the superframe comprises the contention free period and a contention period; and

    sending from a point coordinator station of the basic service set, a multipoll frame allocating a plurality of transmission opportunities to respective non-point coordinator stations and identifying each transmission opportunity that is allocated by a respective duration time.
