1. A method for providing a quality of service driven channel access within a basic service set in a wireless network, comprising:
- determining a transmission opportunity that is available during a contention free period of a superframe for transmitting traffic in the basic service set, where a time duration of the superframe comprises the contention free period and a contention period; and
sending from a point coordinator station of the basic service set, a multipoll frame allocating a plurality of transmission opportunities to respective non-point coordinator stations and identifying each transmission opportunity that is allocated by a respective duration time.

Abstract
A method and a system are disclosed for providing quality of service (QoS)-driven channel access within a basic service set (BSS) in a wireless network. At least one available TO is allocated to a selected non-PC station having traffic to transmit. A multipoll frame containing information relating to at least two allocated TOs is then sent from the PC station containing information relating to each allocated TO.

11. A system comprising a point coordinator station in a basic service set in a wireless network, comprising:
the point coordinator station, comprising; a frame scheduling entity for determining a transmission opportunity that is available during a contention free period of a superframe for transmitting traffic in the basic service set, where a time duration of the superframe comprises the contention free period and a contention period; and a transmitter for sending a multipoll frame allocating a plurality of transmission opportunities to respective non-point coordinator stations and identifying each transmission opportunity that is allocated by a respective duration time. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
