1. A system for managing customs data and shipment data comprising a programmed computer system which includes one or more physical storage devices and a display that are managed by an importer, the computer system being configured to:
- receive from each of a plurality of customs brokers;
one or more electronic entry packet image files, each containing an electronic image of a customs entry packets which the customs brokers previously submitted to a customs agency on behalf of the importer that relates to at least one shipment of imported goods by a seller for the importer; and
one or more electronic shipment text files, each containing textual information identifying a plurality of shipments from one or more of the sellers to the importer;
store the electronic entry packet image files and the electronic shipment text files in the one or more physical storage devices;
after receiving and storing the electronic entry packet image files and the electronic shipment text files, receive and store a logical link between each shipment identified in each electronic shipment text file and each electronic entry packet image file which contains a customs entry packet which provides information about that shipment, the logical links being based on the content of the electronic shipment text files and the electronic entry packet image files, including correlations between the shipments identified in the electronic shipment text files and the shipments to which the electronic entry packet image files which contain the customs entry packets relate;
receive a user request for information about one of the shipments after receiving and storing the logical links between the electronic shipment text files and the electronic entry packet image files;
identify each of the entry packets which provides information about the shipment about which information has been requested by activating each logical link in the computer system between the shipment about which information has been requested and each of the electronic entry packet image files which contain a customs entry packet logically linked to that shipment; and
display at least a portion of the image of the entry packets that are linked to the shipment about which information has been requested on the display.

11. Computer-readable storage media embodying a program of instructions executable by a computer system having one or more physical storage devices and a display that are both managed by an importer to perform a method of managing customs data and shipment data, the method comprising:

after receiving a plurality of shipments of imported goods destined for an importer from a plurality of different sellers which are being handled by a plurality of different customs brokers, receiving from each of the customs brokers in the computer system; one or more electronic entry packet image files, each containing an electronic image of a customs entry packets which the customs brokers previously submitted to a customs agency on behalf of the importer that each relates to at least one shipment of imported goods by a seller for the importer; and one or more electronic shipment text files, each containing textual information identifying a plurality of shipments from one or more of the sellers to the importer; storing the electronic entry packet image files and the electronic shipment text files in the one or more physical storage devices in the computer system; after receiving and storing the electronic entry packet image files and the electronic shipment text files, receiving and storing a logical link in the computer system between each shipment identified in each electronic shipment text file and each electronic entry packet image file which contains a of customs entry packets which provides information about that shipment, the logical links being based on the content of the electronic shipment text files and the electronic entry packet image files, including correlations between the shipments identified in the electronic shipment text files and the shipments to which the electronic entry packet image files which contain the customs entry packets relate; receiving a user request in the computer system for information about one of the shipments after receiving and storing the logical links between the electronic shipment text files and the electronic entry packet image files; identifying each of the entry packets which provides information about the shipment about which information has been requested by activating each logical link in the computer system between the shipment about which information has been requested and each of the electronic entry packet image files which contain a customs entry packets logically linked to that shipment; and displaying at least a portion of the image of the entry packets that are linked to the shipment about which information has been requested on the display. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
