1. A display apparatus comprising:

  • a first base substrate;

    a plurality of pixel areas disposed in a matrix on the first base substrate, each of the pixel areas including a pixel electrode receiving a pixel voltage;

    a second base substrate which faces the first base substrate;

    a color filter layer disposed on the second base substrate, the color filter layer comprising a plurality of color pixels which correspond to the pixel areas in a one-to-one correspondence and having a plurality of holes; and

    a common electrode disposed on the second base substrate to cover the color pixels, the common electrode receiving a common voltage,wherein at least one of the holes is disposed between the two adjacent color pixels, gray scales of the pixel areas are formed by electric fields between the pixel electrodes and the common electrode, and each of areas where the holes are disposed displays a white or a black color according to the gray scale of the corresponding pixel area.
