1. A method of providing contextual information to customers on pages of an electronic catalog, the method comprising:

  • receiving, from a computing device associated with a customer, a request for an item detail page of an electronic catalog, said item detail page corresponding to a first catalog item, and providing functionality for selecting the first catalog item for purchase;

    determining, in response to the request, that the customer previously placed an order for a second catalog item that is related to the first catalog item;

    supplementing the item detail page with information reflective of the previously placed order, said information including an identification of the second catalog item; and

    sending the item detail page, as supplemented with the information reflective of the previously placed order, to the computing device in response to the request;

    wherein the method is performed by a system that comprises one or more servers.
