- an optical probe including light emitting elements and a light detecting element, said light detecting element configured to output a signal representative of light attenuated by tissue of a patient, said signal comprising signal portions and noise portions; and
a patient monitor comprising;
a sensor port communicating with said optical probe to receive said signal;
delta sigma converter that converts the signal to a digital signal; and
a signal processor configured to enhance the digitized signal using an adaptive algorithm for use in calculating a physiological parameter.

The present disclosure describes a method and an apparatus for analyzing measured signals using various processing techniques. In certain embodiments, the measured signals are physiological signals. 14. A method of determining a physiological parameter of a patient comprising:

communicating at least one light emitter drive signal to a noninvasive optical sensor comprising light emitters capable of producing light of at least two wavelengths; and receiving a signal indicative of light attenuated by tissue of a patient comprising at least first and second portions corresponding to the at least first and second wavelengths; converting the signal to digital values using a delta sigma converter; altering said signal by operation of an algorithm that responds to at least one error signal; and using the altered signal to calculate oxygen saturation. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25)
