a cache memory storing data received via said plurality of ports;
a plurality of RAID (Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks) groups, each comprising a plurality of disks storing data stored in said cache memory;
a first resource group comprising a first port selected from said plurality of ports, a first cache portion logically partitioned in said cache memory, and a first RAID group selected from said plurality of RAID groups;
a second resource group comprising a second port selected from said plurality of ports, a second cache portion logically partitioned in said cache memory, and a second RAID group selected from said plurality of RAID groups; and
a module managing first log information of said first resource group and second log information of said second resource group on a resource group basis,wherein said first log information comprises a time of performing a first login operation for logging in the first resource group and information indicating whether or not the first login operation has been executed appropriately,wherein a first manager is permitted to refer to said first log information assigned to said first resource group and to modify a configuration of said first resource group,wherein said second log information comprises a time of performing a second login operation for logging in the second resource group and information indicating whether or not the second login operation has been executed appropriately,wherein a second manager is permitted to refer to said second log information assigned to said second resource group and to modify a configuration said second resource group, andwherein a system manager is permitted to refer to both said first log information and said second log information, and to modify the configuration of said storage system.

Abstract
A storage system whereby all managers of the storage system can easily collect the history data of the manager of each partition. The storage system is designed such that the memory resources within the system are managed by a system manager while partitions of the memory resources are managed by partition managers assigned for every partition unit. The storage system is provided with management modules that change the configuration of the memory resources corresponding to the content set by the system manager or partition manager, a history data management module that creates history data correlating the identifier of the partition unit that has undergone modification of the configuration of the memory resources, the setting content, and the identification data of the manager, and a history data storage unit that stores the history data.
