1. A node to forward data traffic in an access network, comprising:

  • a forwarding table specifying local addresses in the access network;

    a policy filter to associate data traffic with one of a plurality of virtual networks, each of the virtual networks to define a route through the access network to a respective one of a plurality of service networks; and

    a packet processor to choose destination-based routing via a default network different from the plurality of virtual networks for data traffic destined for a local address specified in the forwarding table and for return data traffic received from one of the service networks, and when the data traffic is destined for an address not specified in the forwarding table, to map the data traffic to a selected one of the plurality of virtual networks for communication to a selected one of the plurality of service networks.
