wherein the media playback requests indicate categories for media associated with the media playback requests and do not indicate the applications that issued the media playback requests; and
determining how to route media associated with the media playback requests based, at least in part, on the categories indicated by the media playback requests, wherein the method is performed by one or more computing devices.
