1. A method of treating a pulmonary disorder in a human patient comprising:

  • placing an electrode on at least one ganglion along the sympathetic nerve chain of the human patient, the at least one ganglion selected from the group consisting of a superior cervical ganglion, a middle cervical ganglion, a T2 ganglion, a T3 ganglion, a T4 ganglion, and a T5 ganglion;

    applying an electric signal to the electrode; and

    adjusting at least one parameter of the electric signal until the pulmonary disorder has been treated.
