Vehicle control and interconnection system
First Claim
1. An integrated system to control peripherals in a vehicle, comprising:
- a control and interconnection system for installation in a vehicle, the control and interconnection system having;
a system core that includes a supervisory processor and a reconfigurable processing environment for processing data associated with attached peripherals;
an input module that couples signals from associated vehicle peripherals to the system core;
a configuration library that stores operator-derived, vehicle performance and preference data, which is used by the system core to establish vehicle operating characteristics based upon operator derived preferences; and
an output module that couples signals from the system core to corresponding peripherals;
wherein;
the system core of the control and interconnection system is responsive to an input from a first peripheral via the input module, wherein the first peripheral is of a class of select one of;
vehicle dynamics class, powertrain class, vehicle body class, and power supply class;
the supervisory processor supervises a second peripheral of a class of select one of;
vehicle dynamics class, powertrain class, vehicle body class, and power supply class, wherein the first peripheral is not of the same class as the class of the second peripheral; and
the supervisory processor provides control information via the output module to the second peripheral to coordinate performance characteristics of supervised peripherals in response to the input from the first peripheral and in response to the operator-derived, vehicle performance and preference data.

Abstract
An integrated system to control peripherals in a vehicle includes a control and interconnection system having a supervisory processor and/or supervisory control. The control and interconnection system is responsive to feedback from peripherals associated with the vehicle. Moreover, the supervisory processor supervises a plurality of peripherals in communication with the control and interconnection system, where at least one of the plurality of the peripherals includes a controller and is associated with at least one of the: vehicle dynamics, vehicle power train and vehicle body, of a corresponding vehicle. Still further, the supervisory processor provides control information to each of the plurality of peripherals to coordinate performance characteristics based upon at least one operating condition that is determined by the control and interconnection system.
