1. A method of programming an electro-active spectacle comprising:
- programming a prescription based on a conventional refractive error into a controller that controls an electro-active lens;
measuring a non-conventional refractive error of a patient'"'"'s eye using either an autorefractor or a wavefront analyzer, while the patient is looking through the electro-active lens, and while the electro-active lens is controlled to correct for the prescription;
refining of the prescription by;
accounting for the non-conventional refractive error measured while the patient is looking through the electro-active lens while the electro-active lens is controlled to correct for the prescription;
programming the electro-active spectacle with the refined prescription.

Abstract
A spectacle lens is disclosed. The disclosed lens provides a vision correcting area for the correction of a wearer'"'"'s refractive error. The viewing correction area provides correction for non-conventional refractive error to provide at least a part of the wearer'"'"'s vision correction. The lens has a prescription based on a wave front analysis of the wearer'"'"'s eye and the lens can further be modified to fit within an eyeglass frame.
