1. A surface cleaning apparatus cleaner comprising:

  • (a) a dirty air inlet;

    (b) a handle;

    (c) a cyclone chamber having a longitudinal axis, a fluid inlet downstream from the dirty air inlet, a dirt outlet comprising an opening at a first end of the cyclone chamber and a fluid outlet spaced from the first end, the opening having an area;

    (d) a plate having a cyclone chamber surface and the cyclone chamber surface of the plate having an area that is larger than the area of the opening;

    (e) a passage extending between the cyclone chamber and a dirt collection chamber, the passage defined at least in part by first and second opposed walls extending at an angle to the longitudinal axis such that separated dirt travels at least outwardly as the dirt travels through the passage; and

    ,(f) an air flow motor.
