Communication connector with improved crosstalk connection
First Claim
1. A communication jack configured to mate with a complimentary plug, the jack having an opening and eight aligned jack contacts such that the jack contacts can be sequentially numbered from 1 to 8 starting at a first end and ending at a second end, comprising:
- a first printed circuit board electrically attached to the jack contacts, the first printed circuit board containing circuitry to only provide compensating crosstalk between jack contact 2 and jack contact 6, between jack contact 3 and jack contact 5, between jack contact 4 and jack contact 6, and between jack contact 3 and jack contact 7; and
a second printed circuit board electrically connected to the contacts, the second printed circuit board containing compensation circuitry to provide compensating crosstalk between jack contact 1 and jack contact 4 and between jack contact 5 and jack contact 8, wherein the first printed circuit board is connected to the jack contacts at a point closer to an interface between the jack contacts and contacts of the plug than a point where the second printed circuit board is connected to the jack contacts.

Abstract
A communication jack has a housing with a face having a plug receiving aperture. A plurality of conductive path pairs extends from corresponding plug interface contacts located at the plug receiving aperture to corresponding output terminals. A first circuit board is connected to the plug interface contacts and a second circuit board is connected to the plug interface contacts and the output terminals. The first circuit board has a first single stage of crosstalk compensation with opposite polarity of the crosstalk of a plug for a first combination of the conductive path pairs. The second circuit board includes a second single stage of opposite polarity crosstalk compensation for some of the conductive path pairs not compensated on the first circuit board. The stages cancel substantially all of the crosstalk caused by the plug, for the signal operating frequencies, for corresponding combinations of the conductive path pairs.
