1. A method of using a Software Defined Radio (SDR)-enabled wireless device, the SDR-enabled wireless device comprising hardware and/or software for wireless communication and having system parameters indicating capabilities of the hardware and/or software, the method comprising:

  • a) receiving a request for performing simultaneous communication according to a first wireless protocol and a second wireless protocol, the first wireless protocol having first protocol requirements for communication and the second wireless protocol having second protocol requirements for communication;

    b) determining whether the hardware and/or software of the SDR-enabled wireless device supports simultaneous communication according to the first wireless protocol and the second wireless protocol based at least in part on comparing requirements for the simultaneous communication to the system parameters that indicate the capabilities of the hardware and/or software for wireless communication; and

    c) when the hardware and/or software supports simultaneous communication according to the first wireless protocol and second wireless protocol, enabling simultaneous communication according to the first and second wireless protocols.
