  • an antenna; and

    a circuit coupled to the antenna, the circuit being configured to provide a first signal to the antenna which is communicated to a base station over a first channel at a first data rate, the circuit being configured to generate a second signal which is communicated to the base station, wherein, in response to the second signal, a second channel is established between the CDMA subscriber unit and the base station, the circuit being configured to provide a third signal to the antenna which is communicated to the base station over the second channel at a second data rate different than the first data rate, wherein the circuit is further configured to receive two calls simultaneously;

    wherein the antenna is configured to receive power control information which is time division multiplexed onto a physical channel with signaling information, the circuit being configured to adjust a power level associated with at least one of the first and second channels in accordance with the power control information.
