Method and system for treating photoaged tissue
First Claim
1. A method for providing treatment of photoaged tissue, said method comprising:
- imaging a region of interest below a tissue surface with an imaging and therapy transducer;
targeting said region of interest below a tissue surface and comprising at least two of epidermal, superficial dermal, mid-dermal and deep dermal tissues;
adjusting to a depth in said region of interest based on said imaging;
delivering ablative ultrasound energy from said imaging and therapy transducer to said depth within said region of interest;
creating a conformal lesion in at least two of said epidermal, superficial dermal, mid-dermal and deep dermal tissues;
coagulating a portion of said region of interest; and
monitoring for rejuvenation of said tissue surface.

Abstract
A method and system for ultrasound treatment of photoaged tissue are provided. An exemplary method and system are configured for first, ultrasound imaging of the region of interest for localization of the treatment area, second, delivery of ultrasound energy at a depth and pattern to achieve the desired therapeutic effects, and third to monitor the treatment area during and after therapy to assess the results and/or provide feedback. The exemplary treatment method and system can be configured for producing arrays of sub-millimeter and larger zones of thermal ablation to treat the epidermal, superficial dermal, mid-dermal and deep dermal components of photoaged tissue.

10. A method of rejuvenating photoaged skin on a subject, the method comprising:
-
imaging a treatment area comprising a photoaged skin surface and at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue and deep dermal tissues; targeting a depth in said treatment area comprising a photoaged skin surface and at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue; adjusting to said depth based on said imaging; delivering ultrasound energy to said treatment area at said depth below said photoaged skin surface; creating a conformal lesion in a portion of said at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue; and causing shrinkage of said at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue, thereby rejuvenating said photoaged skin surface. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15)

16. A method of treating photoaged skin, the method comprising:
-
targeting a portion of a treatment area comprising a photoaged skin surface and at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue; delivering ultrasound energy to said treatment area at a first depth below said photoaged skin surface; moving said delivering ultrasound energy to said treatment area at a second depth below said photoaged skin surface; creating a plurality of conformal lesions in said at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue; and coagulating a portion of said at least two of epidermal tissue, superficial dermal tissue, mid-dermal tissue, and deep dermal tissue, thereby rejuvenating said photoaged skin surface. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20, 21)
