1. A method of processing a broadcast signal in a receiving system, the method comprising:
- receiving the broadcast signal comprising a data group, the data group comprising fast information channel (FIC) data carrying cross-layer information to enable a fast mobile service acquisition, transmission parameter channel (TPC) data including FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data, mobile service data, and a plurality of known data sequences;
demodulating the received broadcast signal;
compensating channel distortion generated in the demodulated broadcast signal based upon at least one of the plurality of known data sequences;
obtaining a first information table including access information of an IP stream of the mobile service data;
acquiring the IP stream of the mobile service data based upon the obtained first information table; and
decoding audio or video data delivered through the acquired IP stream of the mobile service data,wherein the TPC and FIC data are encoded with a Parallel Concatenated Convolutional Code (PCCC) encoding method and the mobile service data is encoded with a Serial Concatenated Convolutional Code (SCCC) encoding method.

Abstract
A digital broadcast system having storing resistance to errors generated during the transmission of mobile service data, and a data processing method are disclosed. The digital broadcast system additionally encodes mobile service data. As a result, the mobile service data has strong resistance to a channel variation and noise, and at the same time the system can quickly cope with the channel variation.

a tuner for receiving a broadcast signal comprising a data group, the data group comprising fast information channel (FIC) data carrying cross-layer information to enable a fast mobile service acquisition, transmission parameter channel (TPC) data including FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data, mobile service data, and a plurality of known data sequences; a demodulator for demodulating the received broadcast signal; an equalizer for compensating channel distortion generated in the demodulated broadcast signal based upon the plurality of known data sequences; a processor for obtaining a first information table including access information of an IP stream of the mobile service data, and acquiring the IP stream of the mobile service data based upon the obtained first information table; and a decoder for decoding audio or video data delivered through the acquired IP stream of the mobile service data, wherein the TPC and FIC data are encoded with a Parallel Concatenated Convolutional Code (PCCC) encoding method and the mobile service data is encoded with a Serial Concatenated Convolutional Code (SCCC) encoding method. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
