1. A method of endoluminally deploying a prosthesis, comprising:

  • advancing an elongate tubular member through an esophagus and into a stomach of a patient;

    positioning a retaining member disposed near or at a distal end of the tubular member proximate to a pylorus of the stomach, the retaining member comprising a resilient material disposed in a constraining manner over a removable prosthesis; and

    releasing the prosthesis from the retaining member by actuating from outside the patient the resilient material to extend radially from the retaining member by breaking or tearing a weakened portion of the resilient material within the stomach to release the prosthesis.
