- a compact housing including a blood glucose meter interface;
a display unit coupled to the housing, the display unit configured to display information related to a blood glucose measurement and including a light source to illuminate the display unit;
an input unit disposed on the housing, the input unit configured to provide one or more input functions;
a power source provided within the housing for providing power to the display unit;
an RE receiver provided in the housing and configured to receive a plurality of signals associated with a monitored analyte level from an analyte sensor; and
a processing unit disposed within the housing to control the level of light intensity of the display light source;
wherein the display unit is illuminated by the light source at a reduced intensity during a first portion of the operation and at a full intensity during a second portion of the operation; and
furtherwherein the display unit displays data associated with the monitored analyte level.

providing a compact housing; disposing a display unit on the housing, the display unit including a display light source to illuminate the display unit, the light source illuminating the display unit at a reduced intensity during a first operation, and at a full intensity during a second operation; detecting a presence of an analyte test strip in a strip port coupled to the housing and generating a measurement data based on a fluid sample on the test strip in the strip port; receiving a plurality of time spaced signals associated with a monitored analyte level; and processing the received plurality of time spaced signals based on the generated measurement data. - View Dependent Claims (47, 54)
