1. A universal probe-antiprobe composition to detect a target nucleotide sequence in a sample, the composition comprising:

  • (a) a universal linker/primer comprising(i) a 5′

    universal linker sequence, wherein the 5′

    universal linker sequence is not complementary to any sequence in the sample; and

    (ii) a 3′

    primer sequence complementary to the target nucleotide sequence;

    (b) a universal probe comprising(i) a universal primer sequence that substantially corresponds to the universal linker sequence of the universal linker/primer; and

    (ii) a first labeling component; and

    (c) a universal antiprobe comprising(i) a sequence complementary to a partial sequence of the universal probe; and

    (ii) a second labeling component;

    the composition suitable for real-time amplification and detection of a specific target sequence.
