1. A method for using a wireless browser to send local information from a wireless handset to a Web server or to dial a telephone number, the method comprising:

  • receiving in an HDML/WML browser an input from a user of a wireless handset, wherein the input comprises either a service request that includes a local information type indicator corresponding to a type of local information for carrying out the service request or a telephone number to be dialed;

    determining whether the input comprises a service request or a telephone number;

    when the input comprises a telephone number, terminating the HDML/WML browser and dialing the telephone number; and

    when the input comprises a service request, acquiring local information corresponding to the local information type indicator and sending the acquired local information to the Web server via the HDML/WML browser;

    wherein, in the case of input comprising a telephone number, the telephone number is inserted into a NUMBER field following an HDML/WML CALL command, and in the case of input comprising a service request, the local information type indicator and a URL address associated with the Web server are inserted into the NUMBER field following the HDML/WML CALL command;

    wherein acquiring local information comprises accessing location information determined by a position determination system included in a hands-free unit associated with the wireless handset.
