1. A method of providing bone growth stimulation within a body, comprising:

  • providing an orthopaedic device comprised of at least two components such that the at least two components form a joint;

    providing a bone growth stimulator separate from the orthopaedic device, the bone growth stimulator including a plurality of electrical conductors adapted to provide electrical stimulation to a bone and a malleable sheath having a first surface for engaging and conforming to one of the at least two components of the orthopaedic device and a second surface for engaging and conforming to the bone, the sheath adapted for at least partially maintaining the position of the plurality of electrical conductors;

    inserting the bone growth stimulator into the body adjacent a bone;

    operating the bone growth stimulator to provide electrical stimulation to the bone;

    wherein providing the orthopaedic device includes;

    providing a total hip joint prosthesis comprising an acetabular component and a femoral component, the acetabular component having a convex exterior surface and an opposing concave interior surface, the femoral component having a femoral head and a femoral stem; and

    further comprising;

    engaging the bone growth stimulator to the acetabular component prior to said inserting.
