1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

  • submitting a query to multiple search engines via a computer network by a computing device;

    receiving at the computing device, a ranked list of search results from each search engine based on the query;

    determining a first weighting value of a first search engine of the multiple search engines, wherein the first search engine is specialized in a first category and wherein the first weighting value indicates a degree of relevance of the first category to a category of the query;

    determining a second weighting value of a second search engine of the multiple search engines, wherein the second search engine is specialized in a second category and wherein the second weighting value indicates a degree of relevance of the second category to the category of the query; and

    determining a final relevance value for each search result from the first search engine and from the second search engine,wherein determining the final relevance value for each particular search result from the first search engine includes applying the first weighting value and a search result relevance value of the particular search result from the first search engine and wherein determining the final relevance value for each particular search result from the second search engine includes applying the second weighting value and a search result relevance value of the particular search result from the second search engine.
