1. A method for determining the concentration of an analyte in a sample, the method comprising:

  • applying the sample to a biosensor, the biosensor comprising;

    a substrate;

    a working electrode;

    a counter electrode;

    a cover layer defining an enclosed space over the electrodes; and

    at least one mesh layer disposed in the enclosed space between the cover layer and the electrodes, the at least one mesh layer coated with at least one silicone surfactant, wherein the at least one silicone surfactant comprises a mixture of silicone surfactants;

    applying a voltage to the working electrode;

    measuring a current at the working electrode; and

    correlating the current measured with the concentration of the analyte in the sample.
