Abstract

The medical lead delivery device more easily and quickly delivers a lead to or through the coronary vein of a patient'"'"'s heart. The medical lead delivery device includes an elongated body, a controller, a first and second spring, and a sleeve. The elongated body includes a proximal end and a distal end. The controller is disposed at the proximal end and provides enhanced control of the distal tip of the elongated body.

Claims

1. A medical delivery system comprising:

a mapping guidelet insertable through a lumen of a medical electrical lead, wherein the mapping guidelet comprises;

a conductive elongated member extending from a proximal end to a distal end;

insulative material surrounding the elongated member, wherein the insulative material comprises hydrolytically stable polyimide;

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive distal segment located closer to the distal end than to the proximal end of the elongated member; and

wherein the elongated member further comprises

a conductive proximal segment located closer to the proximal end than to the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the conductive proximal segment is electrically coupled to the conductive distal segment and is configured for sampling electrical values therefrom with a programmer;

wherein the mapping guidelet further comprises a conductive coil electrically coupled to and surrounding at least a portion of the distal segment of the elongated member, wherein the insulative material further surrounds at least a first portion of the coil such that the first portion of the coil is disposed between the insulative material and the elongated conductive member, and further wherein at least a second portion of the coil is uninsulated so as to be operable for use in measuring electrical values of body tissue; and

wherein the mapping guidelet when inserted in the lumen of the medical electrical lead is locatable therein such that at least a portion of the coil is located beyond a distal end of the medical electrical lead.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the hydrolytically stable polyimide comprises soluble imide polyimide material.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the elongated member further comprises a tapered section at the distal end of the elongated member.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the mapping guidelet further comprises a distal tip extending distally from the coil.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the insulative material comprises a coating.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the insulative material comprises a sleeve.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the diameter of the elongated member is about 0.014 inches or less.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the proximal segment is thicker than the distal segment.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the insulative material surrounds the elongated member from the proximal end to the coil.

10. A medical delivery system comprising:

a mapping guidelet, wherein the mapping guidelet comprises;

a conductive elongated member extending from a proximal end to a distal end;

insulative material surrounding the elongated member, wherein the insulative material comprises hydrolytically stable polyimide;

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive distal segment located closer to the distal end than to the proximal end of the elongated member; and

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive proximal segment located closer to the proximal end than to the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the conductive proximal segment is electrically coupled to the conductive distal segment and configured for sampling electrical values therefrom with a programmer; and

wherein the mapping guidelet further comprises at least one conductive coil electrically coupled to and surrounding at least a portion of the distal segment of the elongated member, wherein the insulative material further surrounds at least a first portion of the coil such that the first portion of the coil is disposed between the insulative material and the elongated member, and further wherein at least a second portion of the coil is uninsulated so as to be operable for use in measuring electrical values of body tissue.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the mapping guidelet further comprises a distal tip extending distally from the coil.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the insulative material comprises a coating.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the insulative material comprises a sleeve.

14. The system of claim 10, wherein the diameter of the elongated member is about 0.014 inches or less.

15. The system of claim 10, wherein the proximal segment is thicker than the distal segment.

16. The system of claim 10, wherein the insulative material surrounds the elongated member from the proximal end to the coil.

17. The system of claim 10, wherein the hydrolytically stable polyimide comprises soluble imide polyimide material.

18. A medical delivery system comprising:

a device which comprises;

a conductive elongated member extending from a proximal end to a distal end;

insulative material surrounding the elongated member, wherein the insulative material comprises hydrolytically stable polyimide;

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive distal segment located closer to the distal end than to the proximal end of the elongated member; and

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive proximal segment located closer to the proximal end than to the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the conductive proximal segment is electrically coupled to the conductive distal segment and configured for sampling electrical values therefrom with a programmer; and

wherein the device further comprises at least one conductive coil electrically coupled to and surrounding at least a portion of the distal segment of the elongated member, wherein the insulative material further surrounds at least a portion of the coil such that the at least a portion of the coil is disposed between the insulative material and the elongated member, and further wherein at least a portion of the coil is uninsulated so as to be operable for use in measuring electrical values of body tissue.

19. A medical delivery system comprising:

a device insertable through a lumen of a medical electrical lead, which device comprises;

a conductive elongated member extending from a proximal end to a distal end;

insulative material surrounding the elongated member, wherein the insulative material comprises hydrolytically stable polyimide;

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive distal segment located closer to the distal end than to the proximal end of the elongated member; and

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive proximal segment located closer to the proximal end than to the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the conductive proximal segment is electrically coupled to the conductive distal segment and configured for sampling electrical values therefrom with a programmer; and

wherein the device further comprises at least one conductive coil electrically coupled to and surrounding at least a portion of the distal segment of the elongated member, wherein the insulative material further surrounds at least a portion of the coil such that the at least a portion of the coil is disposed between the insulative material and the elongated member, and further wherein at least a portion of the coil is uninsulated so as to be operable for use in measuring electrical values of body tissue.

20. A medical delivery system comprising:

A medical electrical lead having a lumen extending therethrough;

a device insertable through the lumen of the medical electrical lead, which device comprises;

a conductive elongated member extending from a proximal end to a distal end;

insulative material surrounding the elongated member, wherein the insulative material comprises hydrolytically stable polyimide;

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive distal segment located closer to the distal end than to the proximal end of the elongated member; and

wherein the elongated member comprises a conductive proximal segment located closer to the proximal end than to the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the conductive proximal segment is electrically coupled to the conductive distal segment and configured for sampling electrical values therefrom with a programmer; and

wherein the device further comprises at least one conductive coil electrically coupled to and surrounding at least a portion of the distal segment of the elongated member, wherein the insulative material further surrounds at least a portion of the coil such that the at least a portion of the coil is disposed between the insulative material and the elongated member, and further wherein at least a portion of the coil is uninsulated so as to be operable for use in measuring electrical values of body tissue.
