1. A method for treating a bifurcation between a main lumen and a branch lumen, comprising the steps of:
- providing a radially expandable prosthesis, having a proximal end, a distal end, a support structure on the distal end, a circumferential link on the proximal end and at least two fronds extending axially between and being connected to the support structure and the circumferential link;
transluminally navigating the prosthesis to a treatment site; and
deploying the prosthesis at the site such that the support structure is expanded in the branch lumen by a first diameter section of a first deployment balloon, and the circumferential link is expanded in the main lumen by a second diameter section of the deployment balloon;
wherein the prosthesis is deployed such that all of the fronds connected to the circumferential link extend across the bifurcation into the main lumen in a direction opposite of blood flow.

Abstract
A stepped balloon catheter prosthesis deployment system is disclosed for placement of a prosthesis across an Os opening from a main body lumen to a branch body lumen. The prosthesis comprises a radially expansible support at one end, a circumferentially extending link at the other end and at least one frond extending axially therebetween. The prosthesis is configured to be deployed from a stepped diameter balloon with the support in the branch body lumen, with the circumferentially extending link in the main lumen and the frond extendable across the Os.

19. A method of treating a patient, comprising the steps of:
-
providing a catheter having a balloon with at least a first section having a relatively smaller inflated diameter and a second section having a relatively larger inflated diameter and a prosthesis having a support structure, a circumferential link spaced from the support structure, and at least two fronds extending axially between the support structure and the circumferential link, wherein the support structure is mounted on the first section of the balloon and the circumferential link and the at least two fronds are at least partially mounted on the second section of the balloon; positioning the balloon across the opening of a branch vessel from a main vessel; and inflating the balloon to a first pressure such that the first section is inflated at least partially within the branch vessel and the second section is inflated at least partially within the main vessel to expand the circumferential link around the periphery of the main vessel and subsequently inflating the balloon to a second pressure greater than the first pressure such that the support structure is expanded in the branch vessel. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21)
