1. A method of coating a stent, comprising:
- forming discontinuous segments of a first polymer composition in a coating layer covering a stent substrate; and
loading a second polymer composition in the coating layer, the second polymer composition disposed between and in contact with the discontinuous segments of the first polymer composition, the second polymer composition including a solvent incapable of removing one or more of the discontinuous segments of the first polymer composition from the coating layer.
