1. A computer implemented method, comprising:

  • at a client system having one or more processors, memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, and a display device;

    receiving an electronic message, wherein the electronic message is an email message and is associated with audio data;

    displaying a plurality of regions including a first contiguous region, wherein, when the audio data contains a voicemail message, the displaying includes simultaneously displaying, within the first contiguous region;

    the electronic message;

    an email reply object comprising a reply box for entry of an email reply message replying to the electronic message;

    an audio player object configured for playing back the audio data; and

    a chat reply object;

    detecting selection of the chat reply object; and

    in response to detecting selection of the chat reply object;

    initiating a chat session associated with the electronic message; and

    displaying a second contiguous region distinct from the plurality of regions, wherein the second contiguous region includes a chat window that at least partially covers the reply box.
