- a table defining a work surface;
a nominally planar, circular blade configured to extend at least partially above the work surface to cut a workpiece on the work surface;
a motor to drive the blade;
an elevation carriage supporting the blade, where the elevation carriage is below the work surface, and where the elevation carriage is configured to move to change the elevation of the blade relative to the work surface;
a rotatable hand wheel adapted to be turned by a user;
a linkage interconnecting the hand wheel and elevation carriage, where the linkage is configured to convert rotational movement of the hand wheel into movement of the elevation carriage; and
a spring to provide a force pushing the elevation carriage up, where the spring is positioned below the work surface.
