1. A glucose sensor system for monitoring glucose concentration in a biological sample of a host, the system comprising:
- a continuous glucose sensor configured to produce a data stream indicative of a host'"'"'s glucose concentration, wherein the continuous glucose sensor comprises a sensing region and a sensing membrane located over the sensing region, and wherein at least a portion of the continuous glucose sensor is configured for transcutaneous insertion through a skin of a host;
an on-skin device coupled to the continuous glucose sensor, the on-skin device comprising sensor electronics housed within the on-skin device, the sensor electronics comprising a transceiver configured to wirelessly transmit and receive data and a first processor configured to prospectively convert uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream using a prospectively-generated conversion function to generate real-time calibrated glucose concentration information; and
a phone configured to receive the uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream from the on-skin device, the phone comprising;
an electronics module comprising a second processor and software; and
a touch-sensitive display;
wherein the phone is configured to download the software onto the phone via a data communication port or a wireless receiver,wherein the software comprises instructions, when executed by the second processor, to retrospectively convert the uncalibrated sensor data associated with the data stream to generate historical calibrated glucose concentration information using a retrospectively-generated conversion function and to cause display of the historical calibrated glucose concentration information on the touch-sensitive display, andwherein the prospectively-generated conversion function is different from the retrospectively-generated conversion function.
