  • taking a plurality of electrical measurements across biological material adjacent a sensor using electrodes;

    providing a processor for performing the following steps;

    using the electrical measurements to make determinations regarding the type of the biological material and the thickness of the biological material;

    based on the type and thickness of the biological material, determining whether the sensor can be recalibrated; and

    ,if the sensor can be recalibrated, selecting a recalibration value based on the type and thickness of the biological material.
