1. A method for communicating in a wireless local area network (WLAN) network, the method comprising:

  • sending, by a beamformer, a feedback request to a beamformee over a wireless channel;

    receiving a feedback response from the beamformee, the feedback response including indicia for the beamformer to form or modify a beam with the beamformee, wherein the indicia was identified by the beamformee based on channel characteristics of the feedback request, the feedback response including a timestamp of when the feedback request arrived at the beamformee;

    determining a time delay as an interval between a time of arrival of the feedback response minus the timestamp; and

    when the determined time delay is within a channel coherence time, beamforming a data signal to the beamformee using beamforming coefficients based on indicia in the feedback response;

    otherwise disregarding the feedback response.
