1. A system for manipulating a lead in conjunction with a deflectable guidewire or stylet, the guidewire or stylet being deflectable by means of a slider attached thereto, the slider being attached to a handle of the system, and the system further comprising:

  • an attachment being slidably and rotatably mounted around the deflectable guidewire or stylet, distal to the slider, and comprising means for retaining a proximal end of the lead in which the guidewire or stylet is inserted, such that the attachment and the retained proximal end of the lead can be rotated and slid longitudinally relative to the slider; and

    wherein the handle comprises a distally facing recess, and a portion of the attachment that is mounted around the guidewire or stylet extends within the distally facing recess.
