1. A method of processing data for a receiver, the method comprising:

  • receiving a broadcast signal including mobile service data, signaling data and known data sequences;

    demodulating the broadcast signal;

    channel-equalizing the demodulated broadcast signal based on at least one of the known data sequences;

    decoding fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data from the signaling data in the channel-equalized broadcast signal, the FIC data including cross layer information for mobile service acquisition and the TPC data including FIC version information for identifying an update of the FIC data;

    turbo-decoding the mobile service data in the channel-equalized broadcast signal;

    building a Reed-Solomon (RS) frame including an IP datagram of the turbo-decoded mobile service data, wherein the RS frame comprises a plurality of mobile and handheld (M/H) transport packets, each M/H transport packet including an M-byte header, k bytes of stuffing data and an (N-M-k)-byte payload, wherein the header includes stuffing indication information indicating whether the stuffing data are included in the M/H transport packet, and wherein N and M are integers, and k is equal to or greater than 0;

    acquiring the IP datagram of the mobile service data from at least one M/H transport packet included in the RS frame; and

    decoding at least one of audio and video streams included in the acquired IP datagram.
